On September 14, 2024, Education & Health Centers of America, Inc. (EHCA) hosted a Veteran Resource Fair at the Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, in partnership with Soldier On. The event drew a large turnout of veterans seeking access to a variety of available support services.
The Resource Fair offered a wide array of resources for veterans from all branches of the military. A total of 17 booths were set up by various agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Human Services – Division of Social Services, Department of Military and Veteran Affairs (DMAVA), Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, American Red Cross, Hackensack Meridian Health, Veterans Crisis Hotline – 988, and several other local veteran service organizations.
Representatives from Soldier On provided information on affordable housing options, including transitional housing and permanent supportive housing for veterans. Soldier On has long been recognized as a leader in creating housing opportunities for veterans, including the Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.
EHCA’s Incarcerated Veterans Initiative (IVI) and Veteran Resource Program (VRP) staff were also present at the event, in order to provide on-site support to veterans in need. Veteran participants learned about EHCA’s financial assistance opportunities, which are focused on securing sustainable housing, utility assistance, eviction assistance, transportation assistance, essential home furnishing assistance, and other relevant gap services.
A free lunch for the veteran participants was catered by Mission BBQ. We would also like to thank Party Surge for the tents, tables, and chairs!
Overall, the Veteran Resource Fair was a resounding success, providing a vital bridge between veterans and the services they need to thrive in their communities. Many veteran attendees left the event with newfound connections to essential resources.
