The Veteran Resource Program hit the ground running!
In the first seven months, the Veteran Resource Program received 42 veteran program applications and aided 23 veterans with direct monetary assistance for housing related costs, such as: utilities, rental assistance, eviction debts, transportation, furniture, emergency hotel vouchers, vehicle repair, and groceries.
The Veteran Resource Program made a total of 477 veteran program participant case management contacts between July 2023 and January 2024—via client-centered in-person meetings, email correspondence, text messages, telephonic counseling, home visits, eviction hearing debriefings, case follow-up, etc.
Additionally, the Veteran Resource Program was contacted on 100 separate occasions by other community providers and veteran service provider partners, inquiring about the program and listing of available services, fostering collaboration opportunities, and in order to refer veterans to the program.
Hear directly from our Veteran Resource Program participants and community partner service providers:
“Thank you very much for your help. This means a lot to me. Without your help at this time, I would not be able to stay in a safe environment. I was without a job for three months and with this factor, I found myself behind in rent and utilities along with many other financial obligations. I appreciate the aid and assistance you are able to provide through the Education & Health Centers of America, Inc. I thank everyone involved in making this be possible.” – Veteran Resource Program Client
“This substantial support will allow the family to retain their utility service unimpeded and unencumbered by the stress of – in the Veteran’s own words – deciding whether to eat or pay bills and go to medical appointments. As he expressed to me, after working his entire life he was hospitalized three times during 2021-2023. The financial shock of his permanent disability is still keenly felt; but with your support, he shares a renewed hope that they can make fundamental changes and access available resources to ensure lasting success.” – Veteran Resource Community Partner
“I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you so much. You can’t see me, but I’m crying right now. I am so, so, very grateful and thankful for your help.” – Veteran Resource Program Client
“I went from nothing to this because of the people [at] Education and Health Centers of America Incorporated. It’s a Veteran Resource Program and they took me in and they helped me from beginning to end and I know it’s a good organization but they couldn’t can’t do what they do without dedicated [Veteran Resource Program Staff]. She took my hand and held on. Told me that she wasn’t going to leave my side until she got me a place and she would be on the call of duty and help me. She helped me to have faith in humanity again because I gave up on myself, as well as humanity, until she walked into my life. I now got somewhere to go to call my own my home and I thank and pray for y’all every day. Thank you so much.” – Veteran Resource Program Client
“I just wanted to say thank you guys so very much for your help with my new place. I appreciate the quick response and service from your organization. It means a lot because some of our vets don’t get the help they justly deserve whether it be from lack of knowledge or otherwise. I’ve had the honor of meeting [Veteran Resource Program Staff] in person and the staff here are very nice. This is just the new start I’ve needed. Thanks again so very much. I will be putting the word out to anyone and everyone I can who’s in need of your services.” – Veteran Resource Program Client
