EHCA is Committed to the Community.
Education & Health Centers of America, Inc. (EHCA) was founded in 1978, and began working with residential criminal justice populations in 1994. EHCA and its community residential reentry programs have been identified as a key contributor to the steady reduction in the criminal justice recidivism rates in the New Jersey prison population. EHCA utilizes evidence-based treatment (EBT) to reduce recidivism and provide our participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead a successful and productive lifestyle prior to reintegration into their communities.
EHCA’s programs and services were established with the goal of making treatment programs available and more accessible to underserved and criminal justice populations. In addition to residential reentry services, EHCA has proudly overseen the development and implementation of the Incarcerated Veterans Initiative (IVI), serving incarcerated veterans and recently incarcerated veterans throughout the state of New Jersey, since 2019. EHCA continues to expand its scope of veteran services each year.

Residential Programs
EHCA is committed to providing healthy, drug‐free, safe, and secure environments within which we provide treatment and education services that focus on changing addictive and criminal behaviors. EHCA’s residential programs aim to reduce recidivism through life skills training, substance use disorder treatment, and educational and vocational training that is suited to the specific and individualized needs of the program participants, through the use of assessments and treatment planning tools. Our objective is to prepare each program participant for a successful transition back into their community.
For Veterans
EHCA’s Incarcerated Veterans Initiative (IVI) has been serving incarcerated veterans and recently incarcerated veterans throughout the state of New Jersey since 2019. Over the past five years, IVI has enrolled over 700+ unique veteran clients and delivered a combined total of 4,417 services to those clients. In addition to IVI services, EHCA offers a new Veterans Resource Program. EHCA’s Veteran Resource Program provides direct support services to veterans in need throughout the state of New Jersey, with the goal of increasing access to available long-term, short-term, and emergency housing resources for the New Jersey veteran population.
